I found a guide for a no tape, easy to unwrap wrapping tutorial to make Christmas a little more accessible, wish I just found it sooner

dat-physics-gal

Could i not have seen that before Christmas? Anyway, queueing this for next december to save a life.

This is how they wrap surgical sets before sterilizing them (in a cloth not paper...god I wosh the cloth is a pain in the ass) except when they tuck the last bit in, they fold it over so the end is poking out of the box (like a pull tab).

Which of these pieces of Star Trek media widely considered “bad” are you most strongly defensive of?

The Animated Series

The Motion Picture

The Final Frontier

TNG season 1

Insurrection or Nemesis

Enterprise

Discovery

Picard seasons 1 or 2

I actually agree that every single one of these is bad

I’m glad I made this post because a good chunk of the notes are people talking about how much they like at least one of the items in this poll and why, which is very fun for me to read personally. I have read every single set of tags and reply to this post and enjoyed them!

discovery IS bad but i love it so much

something that drives me insane on a relatively regular basis as a body jewelry understander is talking to people who have sensitive skin who are like "oh well I just can't wear any earrings without my ears getting inflamed" and I say "well what have you tried" and they say "well I've tried sterling silver and I've tried gold..." and it's like. ok. I don't know how gold and sterling somehow got spun by the jewelry industry as being especially good for sensitive skin but whenever I'm like "well have you tried implant grade titanium" they're always like "no....... but I've tried sterling silver... and it didn't work ..." like. I don't know how this narrative about sterling silver somehow got so strong but when they put pins in your fucking legs when you snap your leg in half are those pins made of sterling silver or are they made of implant grade titanium or surgical steel????????? HELLO. HI. YOU MIGHT BENEFIT FROM TRYING IMPLANT GRADE TITANIUM I AM JUST SAYING

to clarify this is not because of any particular thing about sterling silver being an alloy or anything like that. it's because some people's piercings think that they are open wounds and there are only certain kinds of metal that are rated to put in open wounds. the jewelry industry largely does not understand that this is not the same as "having sensitive skin" which I think is the real root of the problem. the body piercing industry understands that we are talking about open wounds. the mainstream jewelry industry does not want to think about that because it's yuckyicky so they keep trying to sell you regular metal to put inside the hole in your body that your body thinks is an open wound. which doesn't work. this is my hypothesis

Titanium was a game-changer for me. And the cheapskate's way is to buy a few French wire hooks:

in titanium. Then, you can buy as many cheap-ass dollar-store, rummage sale dangly earrings as you like, pry them off the original hooks, carefully ease them onto the titanium hooks, close the loop back up with needlenose pliers, and Bob's your uncle.

I don't do it as much as I used to because my eyesight and arthritic fingers win out over vanity, but it was a lot of fun for a while.

I am a huge, huge Beau fan but I genuinely did not see coming that Beau would have my favorite characterization in M9 Animated coming out of the first three episodes. I adore what they’ve done with her character and integration of her backstory.

vethbrenatto

Okay, okay. No one asked me to, so I'm expanding.

  • Tying Beau directly into the beacon and corruption in the Soul plot initially and swiftly; keeping the essence of the campaign wherein Dairon picks Beau because she's a nobody but immediately showing how intelligent and how good her instincts are
  • The switch-up in relationships- Beau's pre-campaign relationship to Jester & Fjord is so tenuous (only traveled together for a few days pre-campaign, whereas Jester & Fjord were together longer) that it's fantastic to start her out solo and actually not have her paths immediately cross Jester & Fjord but Nott & Caleb (and also Molly). This allows a very clear demonstration of Beau's personality flaws- she's brash and aggressive and it gets her in trouble, she's able to spar with Nott & Molly and really exemplify this. If she meets Jester first, this likely isn't the side of her that immediately gtes shown.
  • She is the funniest character on the show right now. Or at least tied with Nott, and humor is the way to my heart. I don't exactly consider her to be a comedic character (though I know she has that mode at times in-campaign) as Marisha does not tend to be a more comedic roleplayer, but it's a really smart choice to lean into her dry humor.
a much smoother way to immediately set up that beau/caleb conflict too that relationship progression is so crucial tot he story but obviously they're not gonna have time to do bowlgate
